Summary:

Today’s food systems consume a lot of resources and release a lot of pollutants, leading to health problems, worsening global warming and the loss of biodiversity.  To combat this, the EDU4Food project aims to train young people in sustainable, healthy and fair food systems. It focuses on developing skills in sectors related to sustainable food, promoting in-depth knowledge of the main pillars of the European “farm to table” strategy through educational modules as well as activities, methodologies and lesson plans aligned with sustainability objectives.

The aims of the project are to:

–          educate young people about sustainable food systems

–          inspire changes in consumption through interactive tools for young workers

–          promote healthy eating and encourage employment for young people in the food industry

–          connect young people with local stakeholders and disseminate the results.

–          In addition, the project aims to promote inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring that project materials engage and involve people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The expected outcomes of the project are:

–          A Training Kit including educational modules on the farm to fork strategy, case studies, career opportunities, sustainable recipes and cooking videos, quizzes, a digital game and an activity guide.

–          An interactive space giving access to the training kit in an interactive format, including an e-learning system, an assessment and certification procedure as well as educational resources, an e-learning system, an assessment and certification procedure and a resource repository.

–          Local initiatives on food education including workshops, exhibitions, farm visits etc.
